Strata East est un label historique du jazz des 70s ; c’est sur lui que Pharoah Sanders, Gil Scott-Heron, Clifford Jordan, Stanley Cowell, Charles Tolliver ont sorti leur plus belles galettes et ont ainsi donné leurs lettres de noblesse à l’afro-jazz, au jazz spirituel, expérimental et au post-bop. Moins connu que son cousin Blue Note, il mérite autant d’hommages et Sir Gilles Peterson a décidé de s’en charger.
Avec sa mixtape « Strata East Mix » en deux parties, il nous fait redécouvrir des tracks qui sont parfois restés dans l’ombre de grands succès du genre. On vous laisse découvrir ça tranquillement.
