Une sortie commerciale pour le projet.
Le Voyager Golden Record, la mixtape composée de sons de la terre, de messages dans toutes les langues et de musique de toutes les cultures que la Nasa a envoyé dans l’espace en 1977 à destination d’Aliens – est bientôt audible par tous.
Aujourd’hui pourtant seules 12 copies existent, une à bord de voyager 1 qui se balade dans l’espace interstellaire. Une autre est à 10 milliards de kilomètres dans Voyager 2. Une était destinée à Jimmy Carter et le reste fut distribué à des centres de la Nasa. Carl Sagan lui-même, pourtant à l’origine du projet n’a pas pu s’en octroyer une.
Aujourd’hui cette erreur va être réparée grâce à un projet Kickstarter mené par Boing Boing et Institute for Future research.
Le projet est donc de ressortir cette mixtape sous la forme d’un vinyle doré, pour faire écho aux disques en or prévus pour supporter des milliards d’années de voyage spatial. L’objectif est de sortir les 3 vinyles pour les 40 ans du lancement de Voyager.
